29 Nov Hertfordshire Business Awards
On the evening of Thursday 26th November, we attended the Hertfordshire Business Awards Ceremony in Knebworth. The prestigious award ceremony is run by Hertfordshire council with generous sponsorship from many businesses including Archant, Barclays and KPMG. The awards celebrate the successes of local businesses in Hertfordshire of all sizes along with those of certain individuals who spend their lives working on these businesses. Earlier in the year, The Youth Project were nominated for the Social Enterprise Award Category. This was later followed up by an interview at our headquarters in Elstree, where the sponsor of this particular award and Hertfordshire Council had the opportunity to discover more about what we do regularly as an organisation and our main goals. We were delighted to hear that we had been shortlisted for the final and were invited to this very glamorous award ceremony, which included some fabulous entertainment. Although we were unsuccessful in winning the award, it was definitely a privilege reaching the final and even being nominated. At the ceremony, we were able to chat to directors of many successful local businesses and learn about their interesting work. On a personal note, attending this award ceremony along with other similar events has helped me to rethink why we do the work that we do. Although it is nice to be recognised for our work, we do it to help others and not for personal gain. We intend to run some new projects in the New Year that are specifically based in Hertfordshire so we will have the pleasure to further give back to the community that recognised us for the work that we have already done.
