Karan’s Diana Award

Karan’s Diana Award

A few months ago, I was surprised with an email from the Diana Awards team who said that I had won an award, “Diana Champion Volunteer”. To begin with, I must say that I am extremely grateful to have been given this award and recognition. There are people out there who are looking for young people who are making a change, and encouraging us as the youth to be more active in society. I believe that it is extremely important for the youth to make a change in society, to become more active in following our passions through, to use our unique abilities to help others who may not have the same opportunities as us in life. I noticed that a lot of the people who had won this award were people who had faced a difficulty in life, and they felt the need to ensure that nobody else faces such hardship. I commend these people, but I believe that for the rest of us who haven’t yet begun to make an impact, we should find a problem we are passionate about changing, and start to do something about it. We shouldn’t wait for something bad to happen, because if we start to make a change now, it could even prevent something happening to us or the people close to us. It is our duty as human beings to help to improve society, we cannot leave it to others. Winning this award showed me how many people are already making a change, and I hope it inspires you to do the same.
